About The Author The Author of ORAL 7™ HYGIENE books, Dr Garth Pettit five years retired from dentistry returned to work again in January 1997 with the mission ‘To Prevent Oral Diseases in Children’ by improving on existing children’s oral health and oral health care education resources. Research of the oral hygiene instruction ‘Brush Your Teeth’ it was out of date! A Chinese Emperor invented the first tooth brush made with bristles in the year 1498 with bristles were taken from the back of a hog’s neck and the handles made of bone or bamboo! More research revealed Dr Julien Botot invented tooth paste and mouth wash in the year 1755 for Louis XV of France. To prevent oral diseases in children Dr Pettit believed he needed to provide them with information; 1) on many complex topics of oral health, oral healthcare, oral diseases and oral disease prevention. 2) easily understood and remembered by children. 3)that related to oral hygiene instructions given to children. 4) Information to self-motivate children to prevent common oral diseases such as tooth decay, gum diseases, bad breath and stained teeth. In June he questioned the value of the oral hygiene instruction ‘Brush Your Teeth’ to prevent common oral diseases. He subjected it to a Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat analysis. The SWOT analysis revealed that it was a poor oral hygiene instruction and it could be a cause of oral diseases because it does not clean the entire mouth of harmful plaque nor leave surfaces protected against common oral diseases. In July 2002 Dr Pettit published a set of 10 books, 10 Visits to GarGar The Dentist, based on his new oral hygiene instruction ‘Treat Your Mouth’, created in 2001. In 2007 he changed it to ‘Treat Your Whole Mouth’. However since 2009, constantly seeking the best, he noticed children were more responsive to ‘Paint Your Mouth’. For kids, it introduced FUN and EMOTION. Dr Pettit believed ‘Paint Your Mouth’ would be the key to children becoming SELF-MOTIVATED to prevent oral diseases. The Oral 7™ Hygiene, “Paint Your Mouth” e-books are based on his oral hygiene instruction ‘Paint Your Mouth’. Dr Pettit believes his twelve Oral 7™ Hygiene, “Paint Your Mouth” e-books will achieve his goals and mission; Prevent Oral Diseases in Children.
